Protection of Russia's interests in the WTO
Infralex represented the interests of the Russian Federation in the WTO regarding Ukraine’s claim that Russia “systematically prevented” Ukranian railway products — railroad switches, wagons, locomotives, and other railway equipment — from entering to the Russian market.
In the course of work on the project, the working group, which included specialists from the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Transport and Infralex lawyers:
- Developed a strategy to protect the interests of the Russian Federation when considering a dispute in the WTO Arbitration Group
- Prepared procedural documents
- Collected evidence substantiating the position of the Russian Federation
In particular, Infralex lawyers analyzed the legislation on certification of the EAEU, assisted in the collection of evidence and developed a defense strategy for the Russian Federation in this dispute.
Based on the results of the dispute, it was possible to achieve a favorable result for the Russian Federation - the WTO Arbitration Group rejected most of the claims of the Ukrainian side. The dispute was resolved in favor of Russia.
